I’ve wanted to start a blog
for quite some time now. At first, I
thought the idea was ridiculous but as I thought more and more – the desire to
start one just kept growing. After finally
deciding to start one, the hardest thing was coming up with a name. I’m not the most creative person in the world
so this was pretty tough and I wanted it to be something that was
different. I thought about it for
several days and couldn’t come up with anything good. Then one day during my personal Bible reading
time, I read Acts 16 and read about Macedonia. This caught my eye because it is also a title
to a hymn that has quickly become one of my favorites. Acts 16 says that Paul travels to Macedonia
because he has a vision of a man begging him and saying, “Come over to
Macedonia and help us.” vs. 9 Interestingly,
during the time of the early church, Macedonia was the first region of Europe
to accept Christianity after God sent Paul across from Asia Minor (present day
Turkey).
Macedonia, the nation that is begging for help in understanding God’s Word! Macedonia, the mission field that
is right outside our front door. Macedonia,
the condition of my own heart. Our
nation needs God’s Word. The mission
field needs God’s Word. My heart needs
God’s Word.
And so, this blog will be
about my Macedonian life. My daily life
in Christ, complete with my failings and struggles – and the recognition that
it is His goodness and grace that makes life worth living.
So to start with, let me
introduce myself. I grew up in a small
community in Illinois
and only within the last year and a half left it. I was raised by two godly parents who showed me to love the
Lord and seek after His will for my life.
After graduating from college with Bachelor degrees in Elementary Education
and Early Childhood Education, I began teaching. I taught third grade and first grade for 6 ½
years. During my teaching years, I met a
wonderful, God-fearing man and we were married in 2008. My husband was attending seminary at the time
of our wedding and graduated 2 years later. He was called to serve a community in Iowa
shortly after graduation and so we moved to Iowa in January 2011. We love our ministry and love to share God’s
love!
Things I am most passionate
about include sharing God’s love, serving my husband, children, music, cooking, and
reading. I love to play the piano or
curl up with a good book! I enjoy trying
out new recipes and learning new tricks in the kitchen! I love to laugh and have fun and enjoy
encouraging others, as well.
I am looking forward to
sharing my Christian walk and hope it is an encouragement to you as you also
walk through this life to your eternal home!
Blessings!
